Message Board Frequently Asked Questions
Here should be answers to many questions you might ask about the educationet message board. If you don't find the answer here, please send an email and we'll get right on it.
What is the educationet message board?
It's an online forum for students, educational staff and union officers to come together and discuss items important to them. In the past two years it has grown to nearly 10,000 messages, featured on the front page of the Times Higher and had various members and past members of the NUS executive, an MP, and numerous students and officers from around the country join in the debate. Its membership stretch all the way from left to right of the political scale, and this adds to the lively nature. It has also been the breaking point of many serious stories affecting students, and often seen as the main place on the Internet for NUS gossip. As such it has become an essential site for networking. Whoever you are, you are welcome here.

I've forgotten my password, or someone else now knows it and I would like to change it. How?
Enter your username and an incorrect password, then when it asks if you've forgotten it, click on the link. Enter your username again and the email address you registered with, and it will email a new password to you. This is the only method to change your password.
I wish to change my details, for example my email address, how can I?
Unfortunately the free licence we have from the software implements this restriction. The only way we can do this (besides buying a $100 licence) is to delete everyone's five-line profiles and registration, which will probably happen very occasionally. In the meantime, please re-register under a new ID or if it's just your email address you wish to change, then you can re-enter a new one each time you post.
How can I get IP information?
IP publication is present on the admin side, and we will usually give the IP address
of a post to anyone wishing to source it, although we reserve the right to withhold
such information. Remember your IP address is logged! To publically request just follow
up to the post, to privately request click on the "Alert" button and tap into the box
that you'd like the IP address of the post. PROVIDE AN EMAIL ADDRESS in the alert!
This includes regular posters as well. If you do not you will not get a reply.
Really, we mean it, it takes ages to pull an address out of the educationet database
and often it doesn't even work.
