Wes follows the general approach of the Compass group (he's written for them in the past). Left-ish, but wedded to Labour. Wants change, but only what's 'realistic' - every time Labour makes a right-wing policy it must remain forever, because 'we can't roll the clock back'. If it comes down to a choice between his principles and the Party, then off we all go down the river, basically.
