Free Education is possible in Higher Education if you're only paying for 5-20% of the population to go to university. However when you are trying paid 50% of the population to go then it become too costly. I am against top-up fees but I am also the 50% target for HE intake. China and India have loads of people with degrees and they still work in call centres with them. Having a degree DOESN’T mean you will get a better job!!

The fact we trying to send 50% of the population to HE is pointless, flaw idea and misguide students. Many students aren't cut out for a HE education. They are better to be in a job and work from a bottom up, do FE courses or work in hand-on jobs. A recent example when I apply to do office clerk job at my local council it said in the form, "we would like if you have a degree" (in so many words). When does one need a degree to answer the phone or to photocopy some papers?
