I was involved for the NPC with the Tony Antoniou situation, although on the periphery representing PhD students that Antoniou was using to beef up his publication record (he has since been striped of his PhD because a substantial part of it was plagiarized). My research is in the business area, so I've heard a fair bit of gossip as well (I was also quoted in THES on this last year) .

Watson is being investigated because of a wider feud between different groups in Durham who are firing off allegations in every direction. It is unlikely that he is whatever they say he his, rather since the Antoniou case Watson has been on a bit of crusade to expose sheister academics and unfortunately many do fall into particular demographic groups. This is a problem, business schools have been growing exponentially in the past 10 years and that has led to some interestingly sh!t people coming into the profession.

All in all a big bucket of horsecrap built around what should be a simple situation to resolve and has yet been made complicated to obscure the genuine issues.
