Lets not deseve our self as to what this was though Paul it was the equivelent of the NEC over turning policy made by national council. I have no doubt this will be trumpeted a a victory however it does not show that you have won the argument in the wider accademic community only caused a small groupe of lecturors to change there mind.
I am not sure about what I think about this boycott as in my view such instances should be preceded by the question as to is this the best way to show palestinian's and palestinian students in particular our solidarity. As it was because of the furore whiped up by those opposing the boycott in the press (with more than a little help from Ewan Blair's name) this did serve to highlight some of the issues for wider debate which I personaly see as a victory to Blackwell.
I wealcome open debate about the corruption of history perpetrated by accademics on all sides and about the accademic community's responcibility vis-a-vis human rights. Maybe a boycott wasn't the best responce but it raised very important issues.
