I really think you need to check your history. 33 countries (including Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Byelorussia, Canada, Costa Rica, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Guatemala, Haiti, Iceland, Liberia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, Union of South Africa, USSR, USA, Uruguay and Venezuela and every Soviet Block nation, the whole of Europe apart from Greece and the UK) gave their "assent" for the creation of Israel, not only the US. The UK abstained. You only care about the US because of your "imperialism" conspiracy theory.
If you want to talk about "atonement", what about countries "atoning" for closing their borders to Jews during the Holocaust? Why should anyone "atone" for allowing Jews a small amount of land on this vast planet?
